Try to fix by yourself (tutorial)

The are few steps you should try before you spend your money.

This info can save you time and headache!

Many issues & problems of macs can be correct by reset the SMC or PRAM.

Reset SMC

Don't worry, this is not clear you DATA!

On macbook – connect Magsafe charger > Hold Keys: Alt (option) + Command + Shift + Power button (without release 4-8 seconds)

When the machine up, release.

If it's not help, shut down the mac > open 8 back screws on back > disconnected battery (1:20) connector from Logic Board > Remove RAM sticks from sluts > Press few times on "Power Button" > Put back all and Turn ON.

On desktop station, like iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro – Disconnect all cables (include Power) > Press on the P.button 30 seconds, release > Wait 5 Seconds > put cables back and turn on.

Reset PRAM (NVRAM)

Don't worry, this is not clear you DATA!

Reset PRAM is more easy to set than SMC. You should "Turn ON" your mac & immediately hold keys:

 Alt (option) + Command + R + P

Don't release, wait until you hear the "Goong sound", Resume pressing, and on the "second Goong" (Famous sound of apple) Release.

Your computer is slow – Remove Unnecessary Data

For better performance, you should have at least 15% free space on Hard Drive.

For example, If the capacity 500GB, 40-50GB must be on free.

use inventory X tool to know the weight of folders. Focus on "Users" and your "Profile" folders (Desktop, Documents, downloads folders).

Maintenance to OS X

These steps should be taken each 1-3 months to keep you mac OS X fresh.

Repair Permissions

Restart you mac > Hold Command + R keys > "recovery mode" – search for "Disk Utility" > Choose "Macintosh HD partition" & click "repair permissions" (pic).

if Command + R not working, hold "alt (option)" key > choose recovery partition (pic).

You can find "Disk Utility inside the OS X, but better to run r.permissions, via "Recovery mode".

• the repair fix issues of bugs, slow, after Upgrade OS X from "app store". Like 10.9 to 10.10 (yosemite). also if you upgrade to 10.11 El Capitan.

CCleaner (free tool)

CCleaner is a "free app" that clear internet browser's temp files, unnecessary setting, and system, library, user caches.

system cache must be cleared each month to avoid issues.

Inside the app, mark the "check box" of caches (second divider).

Onyx & Cocktail

Same like ccleaner, onyx & cocktail can fix issues in OS X.

Before you buy, follow next step to "test your drive hardware". Maybe your mac is slow because of it.

If you have old model (like 4-8 years old), Probably the issue is on your drive.

Test your Hard Drive Speed

Download Blackmagic software and run Hard Drive Speed test (Read & Write).

What are proper results?

Regular Sata drive (HDD)

For 2006-2010 models new HDD should give "100mb read" "90mb write".

For 2011-2012 models new HDD give 130/100 Read/write.

For 2013-2015 new HDD 170/140 R/W.

SSD drive

For 2007-2010 models new SSD give "180mb 120mb R/W".

For 2011-2013 models new SSD give 450/220 R/W

For 2014-2016 new SSD 550/450 R/W.

The new mac pro (black) give 1000/900 mb !

conclusions

If you have 20-30% less speed, you can still keep your old drive for 2-3 years.

40-50% less should be replaced next year.

60-65% less, replace soon.

70% or more, replace immediately. Your data on Risk.

Backup your OS, apps & data by using Time Machine tool.

Check Hardware Fans

When fans have issues, Particular CPU (processor) fan or GPU (graphic card), you will experience "loading circles" in OS, Restarts & crushes.

Test fan with SMCfanControl or CRYSTALIDEA Software

Normal CPU Celsius = 44-47. On Work = 56-65c

Normal GPU Celsius = 40-42. On Work = 52-60c

Fan Normal = 2000-2300RPM On hard work = 2600-3400RPM.

If your Celsius are high even if you not running applications, there is an issue!

Popup & Adware on Macintosh

Yes this is new shit (!) Macintosh have Malware & Adwares (Like virus).

Pop-ups are jumping at the middle of work, offer to buy software's like "Mac Keeper" :/ and show more stupid things like Sex, Porno, Casino advertisements.

To cure, exit all apps (Internet browsers) > download & run Adware medic free soft.

Adware make your OS X and Browsers run slowly because dealing with unnecessary files!
